Hillside streets and truck placement
Some Canyon Country neighborhoods sit on steep grades where a full-size truck cannot simply back up to the door the way it could on a flat Valencia street. We look at the approach during the estimate and decide whether the truck parks below and the crew carries up, or whether a smaller vehicle handles the last stretch.
Switchback driveways and narrow cul-de-sacs are common enough here that we ask for photos of the approach ahead of time rather than guessing from an address alone.
A mix of older ranch homes and newer builds
Long-established Canyon Country streets often have single-story ranch homes with wide driveways, which are usually the most straightforward moves in the whole valley. The newer developments further out bring two-story houses with steeper interior staircases and tighter garages.
We ask which type of home you are in during the estimate, since the crew size and truck approach differ enough between the two that a one-size quote would miss the mark on either end.
Heat on the hillside
Canyon Country runs noticeably hotter than the shadier parts of the valley in summer, especially on south-facing streets with little tree cover. We start these jobs as early as the neighborhood allows and keep the truck closed between trips more strictly here than almost anywhere else in the valley.
Dust from unpaved driveways and construction on newer streets is also common, so furniture gets an extra layer of wrap on the way out rather than arriving dusty at the new address.
Water breaks are scheduled rather than left to chance on these jobs, since a hillside carry in full sun is genuinely harder work than the same carry on a flat street.
Getting in and out efficiently
Because some streets only allow one vehicle at a time to pass, we plan the truck's arrival and departure around the times neighbors are least likely to be coming and going, which keeps the job moving and avoids a standoff at a narrow turn.
